Important Television Serials

 

Have Na Saheva Paap (No More Toleration of Sins)

Having adopted pro-people and pro-change approach, KCP geared up all its efforts for projecting people's aspirations, feelings, problems, issues and views including criticisms. "Have Na Saheva paap” Paap" a series dealing with the theme of exploitation - economic, caste, sex etc. was conceived as a reflection of reality and portrayal of deprived people's anguish. It was scripted and enacted by villagers themselves.

 

Mari Mehnat Mari Kamani (My Labour, My Earnings)
This serial aimed at focusing on self-employment. Efforts were made to inform unemployed youth about self-employment opportunities after obtaining vocational skills.
Vad Thi Mota Teta (Children, more Empowered than Elders)

This serial was to motivate, inspire and encourage children to use their creativity and improvise the existing resources available in rural areas. This children's serial had a rural background with rural children as characters.

 

Nari Tu Narayani (Woman you are Powerful)
Realising that economic independence helps women in improving their status at home, this series was started to motivate women at the village level to form small groups in order to take up co-operative economic activities.

 

Zarookho (Window)
The serial was based on the very popular folk form of Gujarat, Bhavai with modifications. In the beginning of each episode Ranglo, Rangali & Nayakji (Sutradhar) used to introduce socially relevant messages in a light mood with satire. After Bhavai the subject was treated in a drama form.

 

 

Tribhete (Trijunction, or Cross-roads)
This serial was aimed at presenting different view-points on a given issue. An issue was first present in a dramatic form. At the climax, the play was stopped and a compere entered the scene. compere "interviewed" each of the characters and asked him/her the reasons for his/her actions behaviour.

 

Bhadke Bale Chhe Zindagi (Life is on fire)
This serial investigated the death of a lady caused by burns. When this case, which occurred in Ahmedabad, came to our notice, the producer recorded interviews of neighbours, the police officials the doctor who had given the first-aid, and other witnesses. The programme created a major impact.

 

 

Nyay Anyay (Justice - Injustice)
This serial presented the problems of women in a dramatised form, and at the end a lawyer was brought in to give advice as to what women can do when faced with such. problems. The social dimension of the problem was also explored.

 

 

Kaka Ni Deli (Uncle's Courtyard)

This was a serial that tried to explain, analyse and discuss topical issues. The stock characters were an old couple in a village who were visited by a young man from the city every Tuesday. The effort was to present both - or all - sides of an issue, while making the "news" more comprehensible and interesting to villages.


Gamadu Jage Chhe and Gam Amara Kam Amara (Efforts at Organising Village Youth)

Two producers decided to work intensively in five selected villages of Petlad and Mehmadabad taluka of Kheda district. They worked closely with the youth in these villages and helped them organise development activities in the form of camps, workshops and actual field activity. The youth was made to interact with the various extension agencies of the government leading to a more effective implementation of the existing government programmes and the participation of the people in these. Programmes were produced based on the activities undertaken by the villagers and the extension agencies.

 

This was a successful demonstration of the joint working of the media with the extension agencies for successful implementation of development programmes and the active participation of the people and the spreading of this message on a mass scale.


Bhala Bhusa Na Bhed- Bharam (Problem Solving Tactics by Bhala and Bhusa)

Bhala Bhusa Na Bhdbharam was a story of two friends. One was very idealistic, honest and truthful and the other, practical and compromising. In each episode a particular problem was raised and depicted in a dramatic presentation. At the end of each episode both the friends meet and carry out a thorough postmortem on their styles of resolving the issue - either through honest means or through unethical tactics.


Dahima Ni Vato (Dahima Says)
'Dahima-ni-Vato' was a drama serial, specially conceptualised for the Kheda women. Several individual and social issues pertaining to the womenfolk were listed and prioritised. 'Dahima' was an elderly village lady - a woman of substance. She was supposed to have everything including worldly wisdom,love for community, deep concern for the status of women, sense of humour and above all, a progressive outlook and an open mind. Dahima appeared in the midst of a dramatic situation in every episode and tried to resolve the issue through consensus and intimate persuasion.

Hun Haan (Me, myself)

A series of programmes featuring a man and donkey, a puppet - ego and alter-ego-questioned basic beliefs through questions and jibs by the donkey.

 


Lekhak no Aino (The Writer's Mirror)

A serial in a drama format produced in the year 1985-86 depicted the society as viewed, understood and analysed by the writer.
