JHABUA DEVELOPMENT COMMUNICATIONS PROJECT (JDCP)

Project Objective

Overall Objectives

	Gain experience in the setting up and operations of a development oriented satellite based broadcast and interactive network to support development and education;
	Evaluate the effectiveness of interactive network for learning and supporting development and educational efforts;
	Evaluate the impact of communication support to development activities, through the training and general broadcasting components of the project, on quantified parameters of socio- economic development
	Understand the organisational, management, technical and software requirements to run an interactive network on an operational basis.

Software Objectives

	Provide communication support to development activities at the field-level in the areas like watershed development, health and education through broadcasting and training
	Organise intensive interactive educational, orientation, awareness and training programmes for development functionaries in the field and for the rural population, including farmers, women, youth etc., and also for Panchayati Raj elected members
	Actively involve the NGOs in the utilisation of the system, the enhancement of learning, awareness and motivation of the audience groups and in the efficient monitoring and implementation of development efforts due to the availability of the network.

Technical Objecties

	Provide a system test bed for satellite-based developmental direct TV broadcast system, for district level development
	Determine the various technical parameters .of an operational system; 1.
	Evaluate the performance of Deployment, Operations and Maintenance system set up for reception and talkback facilities in the field
	Evaluate the ease of handling and utilisation of the communication hardware in the rural areas.
