GSLV-D1 MISSION PROFILE

For performance monitoring, tracking, range safety/ flight safety and preliminary Orbit Determination (POD), the vehicle is provided with instrumentation using Pulse Code Modulation(PCM) transmitting in S-band frequency and transponders operating in C-band.

LAUNCH COMPLEX

Satish Dhawan Space Centre, SHAR is the launch station for GSLV. The SHAR complex located at 80 km north east of Chennai (latitude : 13°N, Longitude: 80°E) is ideally located at the east coast of India. The vehicle and spacecraft preparations, integration, checkout and launch operations are carried out in the Launch Complex facilities at SHAR.

These facilities include:
  • Mobile Service Tower, Umbilical Tower and Launch Pedestal
  • Solid Motor Preparation Facility
  • Subsystem Preparation Facility
  • Hardware Storage Facility
  • Industrial Service Facility
  • Liquid / Cryogenic Propellant Storage and Transfer Facility
  • Stage Preparation facility for Cryogenic Stage
  • Automatic Checkout and Control for Propellant Filling
  • Safety and Fire Fighting Systems
  • Launch Control Centre and Mission Control Centre
  • Satellite Preparation Facility
Range instrumentation and Support Facilities include:
  • Tracking Systems like Precision ‘C’ band Mono pulse Radars and ‘C’ and ‘S’ Band Radars
  • Tele command Systems
  • Support Systems like Inter communication, CCTV System, Data Links, Range Timing System, Real Time Systems and Specialist Display System
  • Meteorology and Technical Photography
  • TM data receiving station.
