INSAT-2E successfully launched

INSAT-2E, the last satellite in the ISRO-built INSAT-2 series of satellites, was successfully launched on April 3,1999 by Ariane-42P vehicle of Arianespace.
The 117th flight of Ariane,  carrying  INSAT-2E satellite, lifted off at 3.33 am IST from Kourou, French  Guyana in South America. 21 minutes after lift-off, INSAT-2E was injected into Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit (GTO), with a perigee of 250 km and an apogee of 36,155km with an orbital inclination of 4 deg. The orbital period in the present orbit is 10.6 hours.
