INSAT-2E Orbit Raised

The health of the INSAT-2E spacecraft launched is normal. The orbit of the spacecraft is being raised in multiple steps. This morning (April 4,1999) at 5.40 am (IST), the Liquid Apogee Motor (LAM) on board the satellite was fired for 16 minutes. With this, the perigee has been raised from 250 km, at the time of injection by Ariane yesterday, to 2000 km. The apogee is 36,100 km. The period of revolution around the earth is about 11 hours.
