ISRO AND THE
YEAR 2000
The Indian Space
Research Organisation (ISRO) is aware of the
issues involved in Year 2000 compliance of all
its systems, facilities and services. ISRO has
initiated a program of policies and procedures to
ensure that all its systems, facilities and
services are maintained through the millennium
transition and beyond. ISRO plans to rectify or
replace the systems that are not y2k complaint.
INSAT System
INSAT system comprises of the space segment,
ground segment and the associated network. The
space segment has been assessed to be y2k
indifferent whereas the ground segment including
mission control at MCF, Hassan, India has been
suitably rectified to make it y2k compliant.
After rectification, the system has been
extensively tested, certified for y2k readiness
and is supporting the operations.
Indian Space Research Organization declares INSAT
system consisting of INSAT Space Segment, ground
segment including mission control centre and the
associated network fully ready for Year 2000 and
beyond. INSAT operations and services will be
maintained through the millennium transition and
beyond.
