First Picture from IRS-P4
The Ocean Colour Monitor (OCM) on board Indian Remote Sensing Satellite, IRS-P4, (OCEANSAT) was switched on successfully during the satellite's 117 th orbit at 12.02 Hrs (IST) on June 3, 1999.
The first quick look imagery received on June 3,1999 from IRS-P4 indicated the excellent performance of OCM.
The imagery, taken over the Bay of Bengal/Indian ocean, brings out features such as turbidity and suspended sediments. Detailed processing and analysis of the imagery will provide more information on chlorophyll content, yellow substances and suspended matters in the waters.
