INSAT-2B Services The services from INSAT-2B satellite of ISRO, which has already completed its designed life of 7 years in July 2000, are being discontinued and transferred to other INSAT satellites. This follows the loss of earth lock of the satellite on November 4, 2000. Already, many of the services like telecommunication, TV and VSATs have been shifted to other satellites like INSAT-2C and INSAT-3B with minimum disruption in services. Even though, INSAT-2B has been recovered and efforts will continue to maintain its orbit and attitude, considering that there is depletion of oxidiser on board, which is required to control the orbit and attitude of the satellite, further use of the satellite for regular services is not planned. |
