The International Institute of Space Law has awarded the Life Time Achievement Award to Mr K R Sridhara Murthi, Executive Director, Antrix Corporation Limited, Department of Space, on September 28, 2007.

The International Institute of Space Law (IISL) was founded by the International Astronautical Federation (IAF) in 1960 replacing the Permanent Committee on Space Law, which was created by IAF in 1958.

The purpose and objectives of the Institute include cooperation with appropriate international organisations and national institutions in the field of space law, carrying out tasks for fostering the development of space law and status of legal and social science aspects of the exhibition and use of outer space and the holding of meetings, colloquia and competitions on judicial and social science aspects of space activities.

The Life Time Achievement Award has been presented in recognition of Mr Sridhara Murthi’s service to the International community of nations, the International Institute of Space Law and other organisations in which he has made valuable contributions and provided sustained leadership in the furtherance of Astronautical sciences, development of International Space Law and Policy, international cooperation among scientists and lawyers of many nations throughout his distinguished career.
