Hindi Technical Seminar on Tsunami

As part of popularizing Hindi in technical area, ISRO organised a seminar on "Usefulness of Satellites for Tsunami Affected People" in Hindi today (June 8, 2006) at Antariksh Bhavan, Bangalore. Dr Saragu Krishnamurthy, former HOD, Department of Hindi, Bangalore University, was the Chief Guest. Mr G Madhavan Nair, Secretary, DOS/Chairman, ISRO presided over the function. Dr C G Patil, Director, Master Control Facility (MCF), Shri S K Shivakumar, Director, ISRO Telemetry, Tracking & Command Network (ISTRAC), Shri S V Ranganath, Additional Secretary, DOS, and other senior officials of ISRO/Department of Space, were present at the inauguration.

Many scientists from MCF, ISTRAC, ISRO Headquarters and Civil Engineering Division presented papers in Hindi during the seminar, covering the various aspects of applications of satellite systems for disaster mitigation and the various possibilities for disaster warning and mitigation in case of such events occurring in the future.
