Shri B S Yeddyurappa, Honorable Chief Minister of
Karnataka, today (October 25, 2008) morning visited Indian Deep Space Network
(IDSN) at Byalalu.
During his visit, Shri Yeddyurappa saw and
evinced keen interest in the state of the art facilities related to tracking
and communicating with spacecraft in deep space, including Chandrayaan-1. The
dignitary appreciated the efforts of Indian space scientists in developing
advanced technologies that can be utilised for the rapid and the overall
development of the country and specifically congratulated them for the
successful launch of Chandrayaan-1. Dr G Madhavan Nair, Chairman, ISRO, Shri S
K Shivakumar, Director, ISRO Telemetry, Tracking and Command Network (ISTRAC)
and other senior officials of ISRO and the Department of Space (DOS) were
present during the visit.
The Chief Minister of Karnataka congratulated the
key personnel involved in PSLV-C11/Chandrayaan-1 mission. Shri Yeddyurappa
honoured Dr G Madhavan Nair, Chairman, ISRO, Dr T K Alex, Director, ISRO
Satellite Centre (ISAC), Dr V Jayaraman, Director, National Remote Sensing
Centre (NRSC), Shri George Koshy, Mission Director, PSLV-C11, Shri M Annadurai,
Project Director, Chandrayaan-1, Shri A Bhaskaranarayana , Scientific
Secretary, ISRO, Shri P S Sastry, Director, Launch Vehicle Programme Office
(LVPO), ISRO Hq, Shri S K Shivakumar, Director, ISTRAC, Shri S Ramakrishnan,
Director(Projects), Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC), Shri A S Kiran Kumar,
Deputy Director, Space Applications Centre (SAC) and Shri C Venugopal, Vehicle
Director, PSLV-C11.
Chief Minister also felicitated Prof U R Rao and
Dr K Kasturirangan, former Chairmen of ISRO on this occasion.
