Leave and other Service benefits

Leave:
Casual leave would be admissible to JRF/SRF/Research Associates/Research Scientists staff as applicable to other staff of the host institutes.

Medical benefits:
Medical benefits as applicable in the host institutes would be available to JRF, SRF, Research Associates and Research Scientists will be eligible for maternity leave Research Scientist will be eligible for maternity leave at full rates for a period not exceeding 3 months once during the tenure of their aware.

Maternity leave to women awardees:
Women research Staff,i.e., JRF, SRF, Research Associates and Research Scientists will be eligible for maternity leave at full rates for a period not exceeding 3 months once during the tenure of their award.

Retirement benefits:
These would not be applicable to JRF and SRF and Research Associates. As regards research scientists who are appointed for the duration of the project which are generally for 3 years or more in regular scales of pay as mentioned above, the host institutes may allow them to be members of the Contributory Provident Fund.

Housing facilities:
Research Scientists staff may be made eligible for housing facilities of the host institutes, if any like, other staff employed by them.

JRF/SRFs may however by allowed hasted accommodation wherever available. Where such accommodation is not provided or is not possible, they may be allowed rent allowance (HRA) as per the rules of the institution. Housing facilities may be provided to Research Associates as per the Rules of the host institutions and where this is not possible, HRA may be allowed as per Rules of the host institution.

Emoluments for the purpose of calculating HRA:
The base for calculating HRA will not be the actual stipend of JRFs/SRFs/Ras but the initial minimum admissible pay of a Scientists-SC in the ISRO set up viz., Rs. 8,000 (Pre-revises).

Benefits to Host Institutes:
It has also been decided that host institutes would be allowed certain sums of money out of the project funds towards their cost for providing infrastructure facilities. The amount may be limited to 15% of the total project cost subject to a maximum of Rs. 2 Lakhs.
